Fine Hygienic Holding signed a five-year service agreement with Valmet in 2021. Since then, Valmet has been responsible for the inspection, maintenance and optimization of Yankee dryers and hoods at the customer’s three tissue mills.

Fine Hygienic Holding (FHH) operates five tissue production lines in Egypt (PM1 and PM3), Jordan (PM2 and PM 4) and United Arab Emirates (PM5), producing over 200 000 tons of tissue paper each year. As one of the benchmark companies in the Middle East and North Africa region, FHH is highly dedicated to the well-being of its employees and the environment. Through the service agreement with Valmet, FHH strives to ensure safe operation of the Yankee dryers and hoods while also improving the sustainability of its mills.

All but one of our tissue machines are delivered by Valmet, and it is truly a company we can trust. We believe that their expertise is crucial for the optimal performance of our production lines. Above all, the service agreement provides stability and ease – we know how, when, why and at what cost the equipment will be taken care of,Samir Masoud – Supply chain and technical group director at Fine Hygienic Holding, says.

Special attention to energy consumption

Valmet Service Agreement is always tailored to the customer’s needs. At FHH’s mills in Egypt, Jordan and UAE, the agreement covers annual Yankee inspections and maintenance, such as grinding and polishing of the Yankee surface, as well as Yankee hood and air system audits, energy studies and optimization services.

Well-maintained equipment enables trouble-free production, but it also plays a huge role in providing a safe work environment for our employees. Through the regular inspections Valmet runs at the mills, we receive up-to-date information about the condition of our production lines and can plan future upgrades accordingly,” Samir Masoud explains.

Already now, the inspections and air system audits have led to replacing worn-out parts and tuning the process parameters for optimized performance of the production lines at several of FHH’s mills, providing FHH opportunities to improve the mills’ energy efficiency.

Last year, Valmet carried out an energy study and an air system optimization at Al Snobar’s PM4 in Jordan. It was noticed that due to machine settings, the air system was not operating properly. After the analysis and preliminary calculations, the air system settings were modified, leading to around 5% reduction in the gas consumption.

Sustainability is very high on our agenda, and we appreciate every opportunity to decrease the overall energy consumption of our mills. All in all, we are very satisfied with Valmet’s on-site support and remote assistance, and the results we have achieved  together,” Samir Masoud says.

Long-lasting cooperation pays off

FHH and Valmet signed the first Service Agreement in 2021 and it will be running until 2025. For Valmet, the journey so far has provided opportunities to exceed customer expectations.

The longer we work together, the better we understand the customer’s machines and mill operations, both production and maintenance related – enabling us to offer the right solutions at the right time. I believe this agreement is a two-way opportunity for continuous improvement, and I’m proud of our achievements so far,” Andrea Rigonat, Agreement Manager at Valmet, summarizes.
