CTMP pulping

With Valmet’s CTMP* process you can produce the perfect pulp for cartonboard and other applications. We help you produce pulp with desired quality at a high wood yield, so you can combine high profitability with good sustainability.
Valmet’s CTMP process provides excellent bulk properties of paper at a high production capacity. In our CTMP process, wood chips are first impregnated with sulfite and/or sodium hydroxide and preheated at 90 to 150 °C to help soften the lignin between the fibers. The chips are then refined mechanically in the pressurized refiner to produce high-quality pulp according to your requirements.
