HT-CTMP pulping
Valmet’s HT-CTMP process is an ideal solution for producing a high yield pulp with extremely high bulk combined with a low shives content. The process can also be applied for producing pulp with lower bulk and very high strength. The high bulk is suitable for lightweight board grades and tissue products.
Valmet’s HT-CTMP process is a further development of the traditional CTMP process. The process can be operated at higher temperatures up to 180 °C. This softens the lignin even more, allowing the fibers to be separated more easily. The result is pulp fibers that are more intact, and the pulp has a very low shive content. The bulk is greatly increased and the binding properties are only slightly reduced. As it is easier to separate the fibers, the total energy consumption of the refining process is reduced.
