Coater blades

Coater blades

Coater blades play an important role in the paper or board making process. They hugely affect efficiency, both materials and time, and have a major impact on final product quality. In blade coating, paper quality variations and rapid wearing of coater blades inevitably result in production losses and higher blade costs. The Valmet Coater Blade family consists of four carbide blades which leave a uniform layer of coating color on paper or board surface, thus creating an excellent finish for desired coat weight. In addition to having a major impact on end-product quality, blades also improve production efficiency which in turn leads to more saleable production.

OptiPress Center

OptiPress Center

Center roll based press section is a reliable, well-known concept combining close to 40 years of pressing technology experience with modern shoe press technology. A shoe press replaces a roll just before the first open draw. The resulting boost in dryness thus fully benefits web runnability in the open draw.

IntelliPress TriNip

IntelliPress TriNip

IntelliPress TriNip is a compact concept for lighter grades with one side web smoothness. Optimal pressing minimizes drying energy. The Valmet IntelliPress TriNip consists of three presses combined into a compact design. The first nip is double felted and controls bulk. The second nip is single felted and controls dewatering and provides an easy transfer to the center roll surface. The third nip is equipped with the IntelliNip Shoe Module generating the contact pressure and an optimized residence time in the nip area. It provides high press dryness with low drying energy consumption and reduced CO2 emissions. This kind of pressing is suited to recycled containerboard production with lighter basis weights. The IntelliPress TriNip technology positively impacts the smoothness of the bottom side of the paper. The surface quality produced is sufficient for printing and creates an economical containerboard product.
