Transparent reporting

Active and transparent communication
Valmet promotes openness and transparency in its reporting practices. Valmet seeks to help its stakeholders assess its sustainability performance by reporting to selected third-party sustainability ratings and assessments. The rankings also serve as a management tool in helping continuously raise our sustainability performance and define areas for improvement in our sustainability strategy.
In 2024, Valmet focused on comprehensive reporting according to the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), invested in developing the sustainability data and information systems that the CSRD requires, and streamlined participation in different sustainability ratings.
Reporting on sustainability performance
Valmet’s Annual Report consists of two separate parts: the Annual Review, and the Financial Statements and Report of the Board of Directors. The EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) aligned Sustainability Statement is included within the Report of the Board of Directors. All reports can be found on the Reports and presentations pages.
Valmet is a participant of the UN Global Compact (UNGC) and is committed to its Ten Principles on human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption. Since 2014, we have reported on our sustainability performance annually in line with the UNGC’s Communication of Progress process. In 2018, we started to report selected sustainability indicators according to the EU Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD).
Reporting according to TCFD recommendations
Since 2020, we have reported climate-related information according to the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). Valmet’s climate-related disclosure is described around the four areas according to the TCFD recommendations: Governance, Strategy, Risk management and Metrics & Targets.
Valmet reported financial figures according to the EU’s taxonomy regulation for the first time in 2021, and the work has continued since.
