Process upgrades for tissue producers
Improve the production performance with tissue process upgrades
How to maintain the competitiveness of your core processes and to develop them throughout the lifecycle? We provide a wide range of solutions for upgrading and enhancing processes and machinery. The scope is always based on your specific needs and the solutions are tailored to maximize the performance of the processes. Upgrading the process can be a cost-effective way to raise production efficiency, improve quality or lower maintenance costs. As a leading technology expert in tissue, we have extensive expertise and experience. This knowledge is incorporated in all our products, giving us exceptional insight into all aspects of upgrading processes and machinery.
Small investments to remove bottlenecks
With small or mid-size investments production bottlenecks can be opened or extend the original process design limitations. Typical process upgrade building blocks are design engineering, new components, rebuild and upgrades, process controls and efficient commissioning and start-up service.

Contact usReduce energy consumption by as much as 10-15% with Advantage Balance Control (ABC)
How can you set and consistently maintain the lowest energy consumption levels? The answer is ABC. It is an innovative system for maintaining hood and air system settings through a series of measurements, ultimately achieving the lowest specific consumption values. Drying accounts for about 70% of the energy consumed in the tissue-making process. ABC can help you reduce energy consumption by as much as 10-15%."
Experience a 15-25% reduction in gas consumption with Advantage ReDry
Advantage ReDry offers higher production, better quality, and improved bulk. The dryness in the press is a crucial parameter for tissue drying, significantly influencing energy consumption. With the ReDry system, part of the exhaust is recovered and evenly blown onto the web, raising its temperature. This enhances press performance, allowing for the achievement of final dryness content with less energy. On average, there is a 1.5% increase in dryness after the press, resulting in a 15-25% reduction in gas consumption and, consequently, a reduction of -47 to -79 kgCO2 per ton."
Reduce steam consumption by 5-10% with Yankee Dryer Head Insulation
The head insulation comprises stainless-steel plates divided into sections for easy handling and inspection of journal bolts. This not only improves the surrounding environment by reducing heat in work areas around the Yankee but also enhances safety. The insulated plates prevent accidental water flushing onto the Yankee heads. The plates are insulated on the inside, reducing energy loss through the heads and decreasing steam consumption. Valmet Yankee head can be applied to any Yankee or MG cylinder design, quickly and accurately, regardless of the cylinder manufacturer. It is a product which allows for a short return on investment.
Waste heat steam generator for heat recovery
Given the high energy demand of the drying process, the waste heat steam generator offers an innovative and environmentally efficient solution to recover heat from the Yankee hood exhaust. This free energy can be utilized for other processes in the mill, resulting in a 10-15% reduction in energy consumption, equivalent to a reduction of -29 to -43 kgCO2 per ton.
Smart combustion for all operative conditions
With a smart combustion system, you can reduce gas consumption with 5-15%. You can optimize the combustion air flow for all operative conditions. When using smart combustion with hydrogen burners in new installations or rebuilds, you gain flexibility to adapt to different production grades and energy prices, reducing reliance on fossil fuel.
