Optimized district heat production for cost-efficient operations
Valmet DNA District Heating Manager
Valmet DNA District Heating Manager is an Advanced Process Control application for the economical and operational optimization of heat production and delivery. The application considers all available online forecasts and information for optimal control of all units and conditions in the district heating system, including power plants, peak boilers, heat pumps, accumulators and other available units.
Reduced operating costs through optimized power and heat production
Reduced heat loss through improved supply temperature control
Reduced pumping costs through improved pressure difference control
Reduced fuel costs through improved coordination of load control
More autonomous and smart operations
With Valmet’s district heating network optimization solution, you ensure that your fleet has the best possible performance 24/7. As a multivariable closed-loop controller, Valmet DNA District Heating Manager supervises and regulates the whole network, ensuring that heat consumption and production are always in balance with the most economical fuel mix.
Used in conjunction with Valmet DNA Energy Management System, DNA District Heating Manager uses weather and district heat consumption forecast variations. It also takes into account changes in electricity and fuel markets. Additionally, the modular solution includes such advanced features as predictive supply temperature control, coordinated pressure difference control and static pressure optimization. This places less thermal stress on your network and extends your equipment’s lifespan.
The best possible user experience for plant operators
The solution is an integrated part of the Valmet DNA DCS and Valmet DNA User Interface, which enables best possible user experience for plant operators.
Optimized fuel economy and CHP production
With optimized control of all units and conditions in the district heating system, including power plants, peak boilers, heat pumps, accumulators and other available units, it is possible to reduce the use of auxiliary fuels and maximize production with the cheapest available fuels and energy sources. The solution’s design and optimization concept take into account opportunities in the electricity market and electricity trading.
The efficiency of district heating is a part of Oulun Energia's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality in 2030. From a practical point of view, this investment helps us to decrease heat losses and use of fuel in our energy production."
