Dec 3, 2024
Valmet is set to deliver Recovery Liquor Analyzer to Nippon Paper Industries’ Asahikawa mill in Hokkaido, Japan. This delivery marks a significant milestone of our analyzer journey in Japan market, celebrating 35 years of partnership with our customers. Our first analyzer to Japan was delivered in December 1990.
Asahikawa mill has been utilizing Valmet analyzers since 2003. Nippon Paper Industries and Valmet have had a good relationship for a long time, which has led the mill to install the latest and newest Valmet Recovery Liquor Analyzer for the acceleration of process automation.
The order was included in Valmet’s orders received of the second quarter 2024 and the value of the order will not be disclosed. The delivery will take place in 2024.
“We have trusted and used Valmet analyzers for a long time. Having already experienced the reliability that Valmet provides, we expect the benefits of installing Alkali R to optimize the recovery boiler, improve chemical recovery, increase of energy efficiency,” says Hiroyuki Hasada, Section Head of Asahikawa Mill, Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.
“Asahikawa mill is a great customer who has seen Valmet Recovery Liquor Analyzer’s success in Japan market. We’re pleased to supply 100 pieces of recovery liquor analyzers to our pulp customers in Japan. This achievement underscores our commitment to innovation and customer excellence,” says Hisanori Bando, Sales Manager, Pulp and Paper Solutions, Japan, Automation Systems, Valmet.
Matti Selkälä, Business Manager, Pulp and Energy Analyzers, Automation Systems, Valmet, explains: "For 35 years the Japanese customers have been in the forefront to adopt Valmet Recovery Liquor Analyzers in their daily operations. Some of our customers in Japan have been with us from the start already installing the 3rd generation titrators. Looking back we have held the core value of our titrator products to provide absolute liquor measurement results from day one, vital for recovery process optimization.
We have added reduction degree measurement, improved diagnostics and automated the cleaning of the analyzer over the years, making Recovery Liquor Analyzer the global standard in recovery process optimization.
Delivery's technical information
Valmet Recovery Liquor Analyzer (Valmet Alkali R) measures green and white liquor chemistry according to laboratory standard. In addition to causticizing measurements and basis for optimization solutions, the analyzer provides tools to improve recovery boiler reduction performance with an online reduction degree measurement.
Based on the accurate measurements of the analyzer, Valmet Causticizing Optimizer maximizes green and white liquor concentrations, while eliminating scaling in the green liquor system and overliming in the causticizing process. Optimization leads to a high and stable quality of the white liquor, a higher production capacity, as well as reduced production costs at the causticizing plant and entire pulp mill.
