Manage information overload with streamlined workflows

In today’s industrial work environments, data is abundant. Automation systems must not only process large amounts of data but also present it in a way that’s meaningful and accessible to users across various roles in the organization—from operators and engineers to management.

Additionally, the number of plant operators has decreased, while their responsibilities have increased. They oversee multiple processes, sites, and equipment simultaneously. The working environment and the user interface (UI) pages need to support situational awareness in these complex environments. An interruption in the process can result in significant financial losses.

Our UX design service addresses these challenges by developing user interfaces tailored to your workflows and user groups, ensuring a smooth production process and high product quality,  as well as cost efficiency and environmental performance.

The best part of the project was involving the users from beginning to end. By having the power to decide what the views look like or contain, the users could ensure that the interface would be tailored to their needs and make their work easier.

Improve collaboration and decision making

User experience is all about how people work and collaborate, and how to manage information for optimal operations. Through our User Experience Design service, we look at the big picture to improve efficiency for everyone involved in your plant’s operations.

Our User Experience Design service can cover multiple UI needs—from entire operating concepts to only high-level UI pages or reporting. Our service is flexible and can be scoped based on your needs.

We help you structure information in a hierarchical way—from higher-level information to supporting detailed information—to improve users’ situational awareness. By ensuring timely access to critical information, we empower your team to make better-informed decisions and act fast in disruption situations. At-a-glance overviews help users understand the process state quickly, and make it easy to see trends and zoom in on specific time periods.

Our UX Design service process

  1. UX Study
We assess your current state to present ideas for improvement. This can either be a stand-alone service, or the first step before starting the UX Design service project.
  2. Understanding your unique needs
We define the scope of the project and understand your business needs by running questionnaires, visiting your site, and conducting user experience interviews, as needed.
  3. Design workshops
We run design workshops with users from different areas of your organization to determine operating principles, work practices, users and their roles, workstation definitions, preset descriptions, and UI page content principles in different hierarchy levels. The number of design workshops we run depends on project scope.
  4. Design principles
We propose design principles and add them to a style guide so your organization can follow UI best practices.
  5. Design work, iteration, and testing
We develop initial design concepts and run usability tests with a small group of users and iterate based on feedback to refine the design.
  6. Design definition and specification
Our design team finalizes all designs and creates detailed specifications. We can also support in implementing the design through a separate automation project.
