As part of Valmet’s commitment to social responsibility, year after year we renew our support for institutions that make a difference in the communities we operate in. Based on employee voting, the chosen institution for Chile in 2024 was Hogar de los sueños, a non-profit organization that seeks to expand development opportunities for children from vulnerable socioeconomic conditions through sports and artistic activities.

Valmet's support is helping the foundation to implement its annual training program, which not only promotes the development of skills and talents, but also provides children with a comprehensive well-being program. This program, carried out together with sports and artistic activities, includes online classes in which participants learn fundamental values, such as solidarity, respect and responsibility.

In 2024, from May to September the foundation developed the “Home of Dreams Foundation Championship”, a soccer championship that brought together more than 120 boys and girls between 11 and 14 years old from vulnerable communities in Santiago.

The event brought together a total of 300 people, including volunteers from the foundation, technical teams and parents, and not only promoted sports participation, but also served as a platform for boys and girls to access sports free of charge, reinforce confidence in their abilities and learn the values of fair play.

The first four teams with the highest score in the points table qualified for the dispute for the gold cup and another four teams disputed the silver cup. “The children realized that by putting fair play into practice, it was easier for them to create bonds, enjoy the sport and the competition itself. Likewise, it helped them realize that with effort and discipline, great things can be achieved, and that talent is developed with perseverance, regardless of the socioeconomic situation they have,” explained Carolina Morales, president of the Hogar de los Sueños Foundation.

This is the second time that Valmet has supported a Chilean institution within the framework of the Global Social Responsibility Program. During 2023 we supported the institution Gente de la Calle, which aimed at providing improvement, dignity and support to homeless people in the Biobío and Metropolitan regions.

“We are proud to contribute to the growth and well-being of future generations, supporting initiatives that generate a positive and lasting impact. This alliance with Hogar de los sueños reaffirms our commitment to the communities where we operate, helping to build a more equitable future full of opportunities for all,” says Félix Hernaiz, General Manager of Valmet

Valmet's global social responsibility program

Valmet has expanded its global social responsibility program initiated in 2020 with new area-specific local projects around the world.

Valmet’s social responsibility program is part of the company’s sustainability agenda implementation. The program is based on three themes promoting science, nature and equal opportunities: ‘Towards the future with science’, ‘Protecting the planet for next generations’ and ‘Equal opportunities for wellbeing’.

Based on these themes, several local projects in Valmet’s operating areas around the world have been selected to the program. Valmet’s local personnel has participated in the planning and preparation of the projects, and the final selection has been made by employee voting.
