After the successful start-up of the Advantage DCT 200 tissue machine by Al Sindian earlier this year the happy celebrations and formal inauguration took place at the site, not far away from the pyramids of Egypt, on March 7.
The celebrations were hosted by the Jordan based Nuqul Group which is the owner of the mill and the leading tissue producer of the Middle East. Elia Nuqul, head of the Nuqul family, presented the world class facilities to more than 400 specially invited guests from twelve countries.
The 5.5 meter wide Metso tissue machine is equipped with a SymFlo TIS multi-layer headbox, a SymBelt TIS press, high temperature Advantage AirCap hood connected to a co-generation turbine and a 5,5 meter diameter yankee cylinder. It has Advantage Run sheet stabilizers, Advantage Wetdust dust system and a ValReel reel.
The capacity of the new Al Sindian tissue machine is 54 000 tons per year and the design speed is 2 200 meters per minute.

The first tissue machine was started in Egypt in 1991. That was followed by a second in Jordan in 1996 and the Al Sindian in 2005. The total production capacity is about 102 000 tons per year.
