Klingele Papierwerke has placed an order for a fully automated Valmet WinDrum winder for their Weener mill in East Friesland, Germany. The 5-meter-wide WinDrum will be installed on the paper machine II of the mill.
The 100 % privately owned Klingele Group consists of nine paper and board mills and converting plants in Germany and Spain. The PM II in the Weener mill is 5 meters wide and produces boards for corrugated containers (testliner and corrugated medium) from 100 % recycled fiber.
The WinDrum winder with a drive speed of 2500 m/min will start-up in June 2000. The winder is equipped with the Valmet Continuous Winding method, which means that the winder performs fully automatically as long as there are new parent reels available. The fully automated functions and the Continuous Winding method minimize manual work and maximize winder capacity. Only one operator is necessary, and he functions as a supervisor of the winding process.
