The world's largest cartonboard machine, the Ningbo Asia Pulp & Paper's PM 6 in Xiaogang, Ningbo city in Zhejiang province, China, has once again set new production and speed records. On Sept. 13th, 2007 the machine produced 3,013 tons/day of folding boxboard from deinked pulp and sorted office waste (SOW), which is more than any other paper or board machine has ever produced. At the same time the PM 6 set a new speed record of 872 m/min.

The line’s previous world record from November 22, 2006 was 2,823 tons/day and 854 m/min.

The 410-m-long Ningbo PM 6, which was started up in November 2004, is designed to produce high-quality Duplex and Triplex grades of white lined chipboard (WLC) in the basis weight range of 250 to 450 g/m2. It can also successfully produce folding boxboard (FBB). The line has a trim width of 8.1 m and a design speed of 900 m/min. Supplied by Metso Paper, the line consists of a complete eight-line stock preparation system for both virgin and recycled fiber, and a complete five-ply board machine including a five-station on-line coater.
