Metso Paper increases prices for Yankee Cylinders due to increased material and energy prices on the world market.
The prices of some paper machinery components are closely linked to the price development of metal on the world market. In particular this is valid for the Yankee Cylinders used for the drying of most types of tissue paper.
Yankee Cylinders can weigh up to 200 metric tons. The material used for Yankee Cylinders is highly specialized cast iron. For this material, selected iron as well as a number of special alloys are used. Casting of Yankee Cylinders is also extremely energy intensive due to the melting process to combine the materials.
The current conditions on the world market for iron and some alloys as well as the ever increasing energy prices have now led to a dramatic increase in costs of Yankee Cylinder manufacturing. For this reason, all new Yankee Cylinders and assemblies quoted by Metso Paper will experience a price increase in the range of 17% to 20% valid from this date.
