Metso Paper has received an order to supply an additional TMP (thermomechanical pulp) refining and reject system to UPM-Kymmene, Rauma mill in Finland. The system will be installed at the Rauma mill’s TMP 3 line. Start-up is scheduled for November 2002.
The main equipment to be delivered includes one RGP 82 CD main line refiner with a preheater, one SD 68 reject refiner and four OptiScreen multistage pressure screens. The Metso Paper delivery includes installation and start-up of the equipment as well as training of the operating and maintenance teams.
The upgrade of the TMP line is an integral part of the rebuild of PM 1, which will increase the need for mechanical pulp. The Rauma mill has four paper machines: two machines producing LWC paper and two for SC roto and offset grades. The present mechanical pulping capacity at Rauma is 850 tons per day of TMP and 700 tpd of SGW.
