Metso Paper to supply a printing paper machine to Guangzhou Paper in China

Metso Paper will supply a high-grade printing paper machine to Guangzhou Paper Co., Ltd. in the Guangdong province, China. The paper machine will start production during the second quarter of 2006. The value of the order is not disclosed.
Metso's single-supplier delivery will include the latest gapforming and belt technology with OptiFlo headbox, OptiFormer wire section, SymPress press section, SymRun dryer section, as well as OptiSoft calender and ValReel for reeling. Metso's joint venture company Valmet-Xian Machinery will also participate in the delivery.
The paper machine will have a wire width of 5.3 m, an operating speed of 1400 m/min and will produce 500 tons of printing papers daily.
Guangzhou Paper is one of the oldest and most respected newsprint makers in China. It is also the mill to which Metso Paper made its first paper machine delivery in the People's Republic of China close to 50 years ago. Guangzhou Paper PM 5, delivered by Metso Paper's predecessor Wärtsilä in 1956, is still in operation, producing newsprint. Today, Guangzhou Paper operates four newsprint machines with a combined production capacity of 300,000 t/a.
