Metso Paper to supply a pulp drying line upgrade to Ripasa, Brazil

Metso Paper will supply an upgrade to the new pulp drying line at Ripasa S/A Celulose e Papel's mill in Limeira, the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, already before the start-up of the original line. Ripasa S/A ordered the original line from Metso Paper in June 2004. The upgrade will increase production capacity from the originally planned 760 tons per day to 1,000 tons per day of bleached eucalyptus pulp. Start-up of the line is scheduled for November 2005. The value of the order is less than EUR 10 million.

Metso Paper’s additional deliveries for the pulp drying machine will include a Symformer MB, a suction roll and a lump breaker into the wet end, six new drying decks into the dryer section and a double overlapping and wrapper running possibility into the cutter section. For the baling line, the additional machinery will include a Roboapplyer sheet wrapper applying machine and a Robotyer tying machine. The trim width of the drying machine is 3900 mm and the upgraded design speed will be 220 m/min.

Ripasa S/A Group is among the biggest pulp, paper and board producers in Brazil. It has four production units in the state of Sao Paulo, as well as vast eucalyptus plantations. The ownership of Ripasa is split 50/50 between VCP and Suzano.
