Metso Paper will upgrade the oxygen delignification process at the Siam Cellulose Co., Ltd.'s mill, Thailand, into a two-stage OxyTrac process. The investment will also enable the mill to increase its capacity from 260 adt/d up to 343 adt/d in the future. Start-up of the upgraded line is scheduled for December 2005.
The main objective of the investment is to achieve a higher delignification degree in the oxygen delignification process prior to the final bleaching stage. Furthermore, the OxyTrac process reduces the need for chlorine based bleaching chemicals and, consequently, the effluent from the mill. Metso Paper's delivery comprises main machinery, basic engineering and supervision work. The scope also covers a re-arrangement of the existing washing system, and an additional TwinRoll wash press for post oxygen washing and auxiliary equipment.
