Valmet Chemical Pulping Lines have recently won orders for pulp drying and fiberline technology worth close to 90 million, to South America and Europe.
Complete pulp drying line to VCP Jacarei mill Valmet will supply Votorantim Celulose e Papel (VCP) with a complete pulp drying line for the 400,000 tons/yr pulp expansion project at its Jacarei mill, Brazil. The new pulp line will produce bleached eucalyptus pulp with raw materials from the company's own forestry holdings. The expansion project is a part of VCP's $550 million investment program to raise its annual pulp production from 800,000 tons/yr to 1.2 million tons/yr. Valmet will supply the equipment for re-screening, wet end, an airborne PulpDry™ dryer, a new high speed cutter and a baling system based on Robobaling™ technology. Trim width of the drying machine is 7.0 meters, with a design capacity of 2100 tons/day. The pulp drying line is scheduled to start up in September 2002.
Fiberline capacity increase in Burgo Ardennes Burgo Ardennes in Belgium, is going to increase the capacity of their existing fiberline from the current 280,000 tons/year to 360,000 tons/year. The order to Valmet comprises the equipment that is needed for the capacity increase, including an OxyTracTM two-stage oxygen delignification process and post oxygen washing with TwinRollTM wash presses, additional wash presses for the bleaching line, as well as a bleached stock screening process with the DeltaScreen® system.
Valmet has been awarded separate contracts since 1995 for several of the fiberline rebuilding phases at Ardennes. After this investment step the fiberline will be entirely based on TwinRollTM wash presses, both in brown stock washing and bleaching. Furthermore, all the screening stages will be carried out using DeltaScreens. The chemical consumption and environmental impact were significantly reduced this year, after the start-up of the ECF-light bleaching system with a high consistency ozone stage. The new investment will make the fiberline even more environmentally sound. Start-up is scheduled for October 2001.
